look at the world cup history a little review part 1



The FIFA World Cup is an international association football competition that is in frequently entitled the Football World Cup or Soccer World Cup competed by the men's national teams of the members of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). It has been starting since the first tournament 1930 and the championship has been awarded every four years since then, but because of World War II it was not contested in 1942 and 1946.

The World Cup Final starts involving 32 teams which competes for the title at venues within the host nation(s) over a period of about a month. A qualification phase basing on the preceding three years selects which teams qualify for the tournament together with the host nation.

From 1930 to 2006, FIFA has already finished the 18 tournaments. Seven nations have won the title. Brazil having participating in every tournament in the World Cup have won the World Cup a record five times (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002). Italy, the current champions, have won four titles(1934*, 1938, 1982, 2006), and Germany has got the next three titles(1954, 1974*, 1990). The other former champions are Uruguay which is the winners of the first two World Cup (1930*,1950), and Argentina, with two titles(1978*, 1986), England with one title (1966) and France, with one title (1998).

The World Cup Football is very popular all over the world . Because of this popularity, Jules Rimet, the first president of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), began his first campaign over the world cup in Europe in 1930. The FIFA World Cup was first played in Uruguay from 13 July to 30 July. In the year of 1930, FIFA selected Uruguay as host nation as the country would be celebrating the centenary of its independence. In that time, All matches were played in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo, most of the matches at the Estadio Centenario made for the tournament.


In the first World Cup, only thirteen teams participated in the tournament. Seven teams were from South America, four from Europe and two from North America. The teams were divided into four groups with the winner of each group up to the semi-finals.


The first two matches of the first World Cup matches were won by France and the USA. France correspondingly defeated Mexico 4–1 and USA bit Belgium 3–0. Lucien Laurent of France scored the first goal in World Cup history. Argentina, Uruguay, the USA and Yugoslavia each won their respective groups to qualify for the semi-finals. In the final, the host and pre-favorite team, Uruguay, whose captain was José Nasazzi and whose Head Coach was Alberto Suppici, playing a very significant role, defeated Argentina 4–2 before a crowd of 93,000 people, and was considered as the first nation in the final to win the FIFA World Cup.


The second FIFA world cup was held in 1934 in Italy that was considered as host county. In the year of 1934, the only 16 teams took part in the tournament. Among these teams, Bolivia and Paraguay were absent, allowing Argentina and Brazil to go to the finals in Italy without playing any qualifying matches. Egypt losing to Hungary in the first round only became the first African team to compete in that time. In the 1934 World Cup, the host Italy defeated Czechoslovakia 2–1 in Rome, with goals by Raimundo Orsi and Angelo Schiavio. In that time, Italy technically won the tournament the captain of Italy Giampiero Combi , the captain of Italy, kept an important role to win this team under the head coach Vittorio Pozzo and the other stars of that era , Giuseppe Meazza, one of the best Italian players Luis Monti, Giovanni Ferrari, Silvio Piola and Virginio Rosetta played a very significant role in that tournament.

France was the host country of the third FIFA world cup held in 1938. In the year of 1938, Single-elimination tournament was the only tournaments without a group stage. Uruguay and Argentina boycotted their matches being angry with most of the south American teams. Following a play-off match against Latvia, Austria had officially qualified for the final round but because of the Anschluss in April 1938, could not attend. Italy is among the top teams in international football and the second most successful national team in the history of the World Cup won this tournament to beat Hungary by the genius captain, Giuseppe Meazza under the head coach Vittorio Pozzo.
